We cast 7 girls and 7 boys age 10-20 from 11 Bavarian schools for our 2008 Project. In April we began rehearsing for the new kids4kids World Foundation musical ‘Theater: Tonight!’ .

‘Theater:Tonight!’
When the curtain falls after the performance, when the public gathers their coats and go home, when all the actors have left their dressing rooms, when the technical crew have left for the evening, when it becomes dark and quiet as a mouse in the theater, then comes the moment...the time of the Theater Spirits! For hundreds of years they have lived in that building and night after night, when the theater is empty, they awaken: Hamlet, Puck, the Princess, the Prince, the Maid, the Countess, Richard the Third, Mephisto and many others. In the dark of the evening they fulfill their dreams: for once, the chance to play someone else!

They sing, dance, play and dream that they are on the great stages of Broadway or London. They leave their time worn roles aside and without a care, slip into new roles, performing them with passion. Only once in a while, the flashlight and sounds from the Night Porter as he does his nightly check, disturbs their reverie. When the dawn breaks and the first stagehands arrive to work, they are fast asleep in the dusty, hidden corners of the stage: the theater spirits.

‘Theater: Tonight!’ had its world premier in the Schauburg - the German State Theater for Youth, Elisabethplatz - München with great critical success.

Richard III really wants to play a young and handsome leading man

Mephisto sings a moving ballad about his life as a Fallen Angel

After the mischievous Puck and his musical shadow watch the quarreling lovers Helena, Lysander, Hermia and Demetrius, they decide never to grow up!

Toinette and the Prima Ballerina discover their similarities and choose to become friends forever.

The night porter is caught in the magical spell of the evening and to the astonishment of all, including himself, belts out an opera aria

The Theater Spirits sing and dance until the first traces of the dawn

Project 2006
Our 2006 project was an original musical written for the kids4kids World Foundation. Both performances of the ’The little Soul and the Strawberry’ were sold out and met with standing ovations by an enthusiastic public. The participating 9 children aged 8-16 and 3 adults were able to raise more money than in 2005.
The piece is available for the kids4kids outreach program. It can be individually tailored to meet the talents of various groups.

The little Soul and the Strawberry
(A Christmas Musical for Children)
Book: Oliver Hauck & Talia Refeld
Original Music: Christoph Weinhart

Nine souls learn that the Earth is a place where you need friends, and ‘heavenly attributes’. They learn how you conquer fear and how faith makes you strong alone and together. The childrens musical ‘The little Soul and the Strawberry’ tells a story which shows there is more of a connection than we know between heaven and earth.

The Music:
The acoustical delights of this show are the elements and style which make a successful, modern musical: original songs, medleys from pop, film and musical, traditional and classical music that create the mood for the most peaceful and loving holiday, Christmas!

The idea to formally create the Foundation kids4kids World came from the success of the concert 2005 ‘In a Circle of Light’. 14 international children French, British, Chinese, German, American aged 6-14 presented a concert of Broadway songs, classical hits and Christmas songs on a small stage in a charming castle in Höhenried on the lake Starnberg in Bavaria, Germany. All 120 tickets were sold out immediately.

The children played their instruments, sang, delivered an informative text and learned to express themselves easily before an audience. It was important to these children to know they were helping children who were sad and hurting only a few miles away. All donations went directly to Tabaluga located 5 kilometers from the castle. Tabaluga used the money for their music therapy program. The children were terrifically proud of their achievement, had fun and the public reacted with a standing ovation! Win/win for everyone!!

After the overwhelming success of the 2005 performance, the director of the castle generously offered the stage for 2006. In December 2006 we happily presented 2 sold out kids4kids World Foundation performances.
